For those Americans you wishing to support the Barack Obama candicacy for the United States presidency, this is your chance – and to meet Academy Award actor George Clooney. As part of the Democrats Abroad initiative, American international lawyer Charles Adams is hosting an evening with George Clooney with both a fund-raising reception followed by a more private dinner in Geneva on Tuesday, September 2, 2008.
To take part in the reception, which starts at 1800 hours (6pm) at the Musée Internationale de la Réforme, you're asked to donate $1,000 US. Then, if you also want to take part in the private dinner held by Adams, a quiet but incredibly well-connected shaker and mover, at his old town flat with one of the city's most extraordindary views overlooking both Lake Geneva and the Alps, you'll have to cough up $10,000 or more. The dinner starts at 1930 hours (7.30pm). As Adams maintains, it will all go toward ensuring a Democrat victory in the November elections. And if you can't shake hands with Clooney, then you've at least got the prestine view.
Obviously, manyAmericans – and foreigners for that matter - are clearly concerned by the need to provide the funds needed for a drastic change at the White House if America is to find its way again. But there is also the added attraction (particularly for the female Geneva community, including happily married wives) of being able to rub shoulders (and more, maybe?) with Clooney, who takes his promotional support seriously, not only for Obama but Sudan and other humanitarian causes.
Some female groups – unable to afford the $1,000, let alone the $10,000 – are pooling assets of $50 to $100 with a draw to see who gets to attend with the obligation of reporting back what happened.
Space is limited and a RSVP is required with online registration through the website http://my.Barackobama.com/Clooney For more information or to RSVP, please contact Democrats Abroad Executive Director Lindsey Reynolds

Democrats Abroad is keen that all its DA Switzerland members to be included as the fundraising event is designed to help benefit the Democrats Abroad Get Out The Vote worldwide. This includes future ventures, such as Where in the World Will YOU Vote? A video featuring Gwyneth Paltrow launched August 4th has already doubled the DA's daily average of registrations of voters from all 50 states, in over 100 countries.
