Once again, Hower Productions is bringing a top rate theatre company to the Lake Geneva Region - and once again for an outdoor presentation at the Chateau de Prangins Thursday, Friday and Saturday (20,21 & 22 June, 2008). This time it's The Merry Wives of Windsor performed by the Illyria production company. Last year, it was the Taming of the Shrew - and a superb performance it was. Merry Wives promises to be just as much fun! And not just for adults. So bring the family.
If the weather is fine, then this outdoor presentation at 2000 hours at Prangins - just outside Nyons on the lake road toward Gland and Rolle - should prove a delight. The setting is superb and if you go early you can have your own picnic in the grounds or register for the outdoor aperitif (1900 hours onwards). You'll be able to taste the chateau's equisite setting with its terrace view of the lake and the Alps. What better location to prepare for the romance, intrigue and comedy of this Shakespearean masterpiece.
Created in 1991, Illyria has been delighting audiences across Britain, and in the Netherlands, Germany, United States and Canada for the last 14 years. Under the artistic directorship of Oliver Gray the company has won international 'Best Performance' awards and attracted numerous '5' star and 'critics choice' reviews for its lively and innovative approach to Shakespeare's plays and its high quality shows for families. Inspired by its international reputation for excellence, Illyria now performs more polays to more people across a wider area than any other open-air touring theatre company.
Last year's presentation was The Taming of the Shrew in a very contemporary setting - which worked. Hence our return - this time with family - to see The Merry Wives of Windsor.
If you have forgotten from your school days what Merry Wives is about, then go to www.howardprod.ch and you can find out more...as well as make your online reservations. This little piece is not just a plug. It's drawing your attention to an event that you will be sorry to miss.
